Welcome!
Welcome! As a member of the American Viola Society, I'm always exploring and learning about new and effective ways to teach.
Whether you are new to the viola, a 5th Grade orchestra student, and Middle School player wanting more challenging music, or a High Schooler preparing for College auditions, I’m glad you stopped by! I work with students of all ages, help them achieve their goals, and have fun while doing it! I am a Boulder native, product of our fantastic BVSD schools, and the wonderful k-12 music teachers. After graduating from CU Boulder with my Bachelor in Viola Performance in 2015, I completed my Master’s degree at The Manhattan School of Music. I graduated with a Doctorate from CU in 2020, during which I was a Teaching Assistant.
I believe that Learning Music can be boiled down to two things: Technique - the physical playing of the instrument, and Musicality - learning how the music makes us feel and how we can adjust our emotions in our playing. This way we can have more fun and build a strong community!
I learned from my amazing teachers and professors to tailor my teaching focus and style to each student. Everyone learns and grows in different ways. I shift the balance of Technique and Musicality between students, and as each student develops. Everyone will feel heard, so we can be excited to learn!
